Why Do I Feel This Way?

Mental Health Questions & Support

Questions People Ask About Mental Health, Therapy, and Support

Sometimes people don't start by searching for “therapy.”

They search for what they are actually feeling.

Why do I feel anxious all the time?

Why do I overthink everything?

Why do I feel lonely even when I have people in my life?

If that’s you, you’re not alone.

At Healgood Holistic Counseling Center in Austin, Texas, we offer therapy, process groups, and

healing circles for people navigating anxiety, overwhelm, perfectionism, relationships,

life transitions, eating concerns, and more.

Why do I feel anxious all the time?

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, constant worry, irritability, sleep problems, muscle tension, or always feeling on edge. Sometimes anxiety has a clear trigger. Other times it feels like it shows up everywhere.

For many people, anxiety is not a sign that something is wrong with them. It often means their nervous system has been working very hard to manage stress, uncertainty, pressure, or fear.

Support can help you understand your patterns and build tools that help your system feel safer and more regulated. You can learn more about the types of support we offer on our services page or explore our therapy groups and skills-based support.

Why do I overthink everything?

Overthinking often happens when your mind is trying to prevent mistakes, avoid pain, or prepare for every possible outcome. It can look like replaying conversations, second guessing decisions, or feeling like your brain never fully shuts off.

Overthinking is exhausting, and it can make it harder to trust yourself or feel confident in your decisions.

Therapy can help you understand the patterns that fuel overthinking and practice responding differently. Some people also benefit from reflective group spaces like our Healing Circles.

Why do I feel overwhelmed all the time?

Feeling overwhelmed can happen when too much has been piling up emotionally, mentally, or practically for too long.

You may be juggling responsibilities, expectations, caregiving roles, work stress, perfectionism, or life transitions without enough support or space to slow down.

Therapy can help you sort through what is contributing to the overwhelm and develop more sustainable ways of coping. Our therapy groups and Healing Circles also provide supportive spaces for reflection and connection.

Why do I feel lonely even though I have people in my life?

Loneliness is not only about how many people are around you. Many people feel lonely because they do not feel deeply understood or able to share honestly about what they are carrying.

It is possible to have friends, family, or coworkers in your life and still feel disconnected.

If you have been craving deeper connection, our Healing Circles and process groups offer facilitated spaces where people can reflect, share experiences, and feel less alone.

Why do I feel like I’m never good enough?

This feeling often grows from perfectionism, criticism, comparison, or internal beliefs formed over time. Even people who are thoughtful, capable, and accomplished may still feel inadequate inside.

That does not mean the feeling is true.

Therapy can help you explore where these beliefs came from and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself. You can explore our clinicians and approach on our team page.

Why do I feel stuck even though I want to change?

Feeling stuck does not always mean you are unmotivated. Often it means part of you wants change while another part is trying to keep you safe from disappointment, uncertainty, or risk.

Support can help you understand what is getting in the way and move forward in ways that feel more sustainable. If you're unsure where to begin, you can reach out through our contact page.
