Camp Healgood is a small-group, therapist-led summer experience designed to support tweens and teens in developing emotional awareness, coping skills, and self-trust in a supportive, relational environment.

Is This a Good Fit for Your Teen?

This program is designed for:

  • Tweens (ages 11–13) and teens (ages 14–17)

  • Youth who feel deeply, think a lot, or struggle to express what’s going on internally

  • Teens navigating stress, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, or social challenges

  • Those who would benefit from building skills and confidence in a supportive peer setting

No prior therapy experience is required.

Camp Healgood is designed for teens who are generally functioning but would benefit from additional support, skill-building, and a space to feel understood.

Why Camp Healgood

Adolescence is a time of rapid emotional and social development. Many teens are navigating increasing pressure, identity exploration, and emotional intensity—often without spaces that feel safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

Camp Healgood℠ offers something different—a space to slow down, build practical skills, and feel more connected—without pressure, perfection, or pretense.

Rather than focusing only on DBT skills or worksheets, this program integrates:

  • Creative and expressive curriculum

  • Experiential, hands-on activities

  • A relational, connection-centered approach

This allows participants to not only learn skills—but actually practice and experience them in real time.

What Makes This Unique

  • Therapist-led and clinically grounded

  • Small group size (5–8 participants) for deeper connection and support

  • Experiential approach (art, movement, mindfulness, discussion)

  • DBT-informed without feeling rigid or overly clinical

  • Focus on real-life application, not just skill acquisition

This is not a traditional camp and not a higher level of care. It is a structured, therapeutic group experience designed for growth, connection, and skill-building.

Step 2: Free Initial Consultation (30 minutes)
Connect with a Camp Clinician to ask questions, learn more about the program, and explore whether this is a good fit for your teen.

Step 3: Camp Intake Session (50 minutes)
If it feels like a good match, we’ll move forward with a camp intake session.

This session helps to:

  • Ensure goodness of fit

  • Personalize your teen’s experience and goals for camp

  • Build rapport with the Camp Clinician

  • Review important details, expectations, and logistics

Current Healgood clients may complete a shorter goal-setting session in place of a full intake.

FAQs

Is this therapy?

This is a therapeutic, skills-based group experience, but it is not a substitute for individual therapy or a higher level of care. If you’re unsure whether this is the right level of support, we’re happy to talk it through during a free consultation.

What if my teen is nervous?

That’s completely normal. Many participants feel some level of uncertainty at first. The structure is designed to ease teens in gradually, with low-pressure activities and opportunities to engage at their own pace. We often find that once teens arrive and settle in, they begin to feel more comfortable than expected.

What should my teen bring?

A water bottle, preferred snacks (we’ll have a variety of snacks and water available), and anything that helps them feel comfortable. All materials are provided.

How is this different from a traditional summer camp?

Camp Healgood is a small-group, therapist-led experience focused on emotional growth, skill-building, and connection. While it includes engaging and creative activities, the structure is intentional and clinically informed. If you’re looking for something more meaningful than a typical camp experience, this may be a strong fit.

How is this different from therapy or a DBT group?

This program is shorter and more experiential than traditional therapy or weekly DBT skills groups. It integrates skill-building with hands-on activities and peer connection, allowing teens to practice skills in a supportive, real-time environment.

What if my teen is already in therapy?

Many teens participate alongside individual therapy. This experience can complement ongoing work by providing opportunities to practice skills and connect with peers. We’re also happy to collaborate with your teen’s current providers if helpful.

What if my teen has never been in therapy before?

That’s completely okay. No prior therapy experience is required. This can be a supportive entry point for teens who are open to learning more about themselves and building skills.

Will my teen be required to share or talk in the group?

No. Participation is encouraged, but never forced. Teens are supported in engaging at their own pace and comfort level, which often leads to more authentic participation over time.

How do you determine if this is a good fit?

We begin with a free consultation and intake session to explore your teen’s needs, ensure the group is appropriate, and help set goals for the experience. This process helps create a more personalized and supportive experience from the start.

What if my teen needs more support than this program offers?

If it seems your teen would benefit from a different level of care, we will talk that through with you and offer recommendations to help you find the right support.

What is your cancellation or refund policy?

Camp Healgood requires a minimum of 5 participants to run. If minimum enrollment is not met, Healgood may cancel the program and will provide full refunds for any tuition or fees collected.

Because the camp is structured similarly to other small-group summer programs, tuition is reserved in advance and supports the overall cost of running the group. For this reason, payments are non-refundable. If a participant is unable to attend due to illness or personal circumstances, tuition is still required, as program costs remain fixed.

If you have any questions or anticipate scheduling concerns, we encourage you to reach out ahead of time—we’re happy to help you think through fit and timing before enrolling.

Can my teen attend with a friend?

Yes, as long as both participants are a good fit for the group. We still recommend each teen complete the consultation process to ensure the experience will be supportive for everyone.

What is the group size?

Groups are intentionally kept small (5–8 participants) to support connection, safety, and individualized attention. Because of this, availability is limited.

How do we get started?

You can begin by submitting an inquiry form or scheduling a free consultation. From there, we’ll guide you through next steps and help you determine if this is the right fit for your teen.

If you’re considering Camp Healgood and want to talk it through, scheduling a consultation is often the easiest first step.
