About Emily (she/her)

Emily is a compassionate and thoughtful counselor who is deeply committed to creating a safe, affirming space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process — one that honors each client’s lived experience while fostering growth, insight, and meaningful change.

Emily completed her clinical training in Austin through both the St. Edward’s University Community Counseling Clinic and LifeWorks, a community mental health organization serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Across these settings, she provided individual and family counseling, conducted intake assessments, developed treatment plans, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic client care. Her work has included coordination with child welfare systems, case management, and participation in wrap-around services within the Travis County Transformation Project.

Emily draws from several evidence-based approaches to tailor care to each client’s needs, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Choice/Reality Therapy. She is particularly drawn to DBT-informed work and frequently integrates skills related to emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and radical acceptance into her sessions.

Emily has experience supporting clients across the lifespan and is especially passionate about working with individuals navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, perfectionism, self-esteem challenges, anxiety, and emotional intensity. Her background in nutrition sciences and exposure to Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating principles further inform her compassionate, weight-inclusive lens.

She has completed additional specialized trainings in Trauma-Focused CBT, Psychological First Aid, Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mental Health Crisis Intervention.

Emily believes therapy works by offering a trusting space where clients can explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors openly while building practical skills to navigate life’s stressors. She values helping clients identify their strengths, deepen self-understanding, and move toward lives that feel more aligned, manageable, and fulfilling.

Services & Fees

30-minute consultation | Free

For new clients, I offer a free initial 30-minute phone or face-to-face consultation. During a consultation, I am happy to answer any questions you may have for me. We can discuss things like what to expect from therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist. We can also briefly discuss the concerns you are having and your reason for seeking counseling to ensure that we will be a good fit for working together.

Individual session fees include DBT phone coaching between sessions (if therapist offers this) and collaborations with other providers, such as psychiatrists, dietitians, and other therapists.
