Join us for a cozy, spooky-season afternoon exploring tarot, symbolism, journaling, and their potential applications within therapeutic work—with plenty of room for creative reflection, conversation, and connection along the way.

Whether you already have a favorite deck or have absolutely no idea what the Major Arcana is, you're welcome here.

No tarot experience is required. Just bring your curiosity!

Part Continuing Education. Part Workshop. Part Social. Definitely Not Three Hours of PowerPoint.

We'll spend some time learning about tarot—where it comes from, how a deck is structured, and how symbolism, storytelling, and meaning-making show up in the cards. We'll also explore some of the possibilities and limitations of bringing tarot into therapeutic work (yes, there will be references, and yes, they’ll be cited APA style 🤓).

But we won't spend three hours, eyes glazing over, advancing one PowerPoint slide after another.

We'll get familiar with the cards, explore common spreads, practice readings, journal, and make space for creative reflection. There will be snacks and plenty of room for curiosity and conversation along the way.

What We'll Explore

During our three hours together, we'll explore:

• A beginner-friendly introduction to tarot and its history
• The structure of a tarot deck, including the Major and Minor Arcana
• The Hero’s Journey and the role of symbolism, storytelling, reflection, and meaning-making in tarot
• Ways tarot may invite curiosity and exploration within therapeutic work, including relevant research exploring its clinical applications
• Ethical considerations related to incorporating tarot into clinical practice, including competence and scope of practice, informed consent, client autonomy, values and beliefs, cultural and spiritual considerations, professional boundaries, and clinical rationale
• Common tarot spreads and hands-on opportunities to work with the cards and practice readings
• Guided journaling and creative reflection
• Conversation and connection with other mental health professionals

Tarot decks will be available to use during the workshop, and you're also welcome to bring a favorite deck of your own!

Your Tarot Journal + Materials

Each participant will receive a printed tarot journal created especially for the workshop, along with the materials we'll use throughout the afternoon.

We'll use the journal for guided reflection, notes, exploring tarot spreads and card readings, and creative exercises during the event—and it's yours to take home afterward!

Tarot decks will be available for shared use, so you don't need to purchase or bring anything with you.

Everyone will also receive a surprise party favor to take home!

Who Is This For?

The Therapist’s Tarot Social is designed for mental health professionals who are curious about tarot, symbolism, journaling, creative and experiential approaches to therapy—or who simply want to learn something different and spend time connecting with other clinicians.

You do not need:

• Previous tarot experience
• Your own tarot deck
• Experience incorporating tarot into clinical work
• A belief in tarot as predictive, spiritual, or divinatory

Curiosity is enough!

1 Ethics CE Hour Included

Participants who meet the attendance and evaluation requirements may earn 1 Ethics CE hour as part of this three-hour event.

During the designated Ethics CE portion, participants will:

• Identify ethical considerations related to incorporating tarot and other nontraditional tools into clinical practice, including professional competence, scope of practice, and clinical rationale.

• Describe how informed consent, client autonomy, and respect for clients’ cultural, spiritual, and personal values inform ethical decision-making when considering tarot in therapeutic work.

• Apply ethical considerations related to professional boundaries and appropriate use when evaluating whether and how tarot may be incorporated into clinical practice.

The remaining portions of the event are experiential, creative, and social and are not designated for continuing education credit.

The Nitty-Gritty of the CE Credit:

• Chelsea Fielder-Jenks, LPC-S (#69697), meets the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) approved-provider criteria applicable to LPC and LMFT continuing education. Accordingly, this Ethics CE hour may count toward the 50% portion of continuing education that Texas LPCs and LMFTs are required to obtain from an approved provider. For other BHEC-regulated licensees, the hour may be applied toward continuing education that does not require an approved-provider designation, subject to the requirements of the participant's license.

• Participants are responsible for determining whether continuing education offered through this event meets the requirements of their individual license, credential, employer, or regulatory body.

• A CE certificate of completion will be provided following completion of the designated CE requirements and event evaluation.

We want professional learning and community experiences like this to remain financially accessible while also making them sustainable to offer.

Our equity-based sliding scale is a trust-based system in which participants self-select the rate that best reflects their current access to financial resources. Everyone receives exactly the same workshop experience, materials, refreshments, and continuing education regardless of the registration level selected. No explanation or documentation is required.

Guidance for Selecting Your Rate

• Choose the Sustaining, Pay-It-Forward, or Community Supporter Rate if you have stable income, savings, or financial resources that allow you to pay one of these rates without significant hardship.

• Choose the Equity or Supported Rate if paying one of the higher rates would affect your ability to meet basic needs, such as housing or groceries, or if you're navigating financial circumstances such as job loss, significant medical expenses, or supporting dependents.

This system relies on participants choosing the highest rate that is comfortably accessible to them. Doing so helps sustain these offerings while making lower-cost registration available to others.

$45 — Equity Rate

For clinicians for whom the Supported Rate or higher would create a financial barrier. 1 registration available at this rate.

$55 — Supported Rate

For clinicians for whom the Sustaining Rate would create a financial barrier. 1 registration available at this rate.

$65 — Sustaining Rate

This rate helps cover the direct costs of offering the event, including materials, refreshments, and other workshop expenses.

This rate is intended for clinicians for whom the Community Supporter Rate would create a financial barrier.

$75 — Community Supporter Rate

This rate more fully supports the offering, including facilitation, workshop development, continuing education administration, and the time involved in creating and hosting the event.

This rate is intended for clinicians for whom the Pay-It-Forward Rate would create a financial barrier. Choosing this rate also helps make reduced-rate registration possible within our professional community.

$85 — Pay-It-Forward Rate

This rate reflects additional financial flexibility and helps further support accessible professional learning and community connection by offsetting reduced-rate registration for another clinician.

Higher registration tiers do not include additional benefits. Your contribution simply helps make lower-cost registration possible for another clinician while helping sustain our practice and offerings.

A Note on Tarot + Clinical Practice

This workshop explores tarot as a reflective, symbolic, and creative tool and considers its potential applications within therapeutic contexts.

Participation does not constitute certification or specialized credentialing in “tarot therapy” or independently establish professional competence to incorporate tarot into clinical practice. The workshop does not teach or endorse tarot as a method of psychological assessment, diagnosis, prediction, divination, or treatment in itself.

Clinicians remain responsible for exercising their own professional judgment; practicing within their competence and scope of practice; complying with applicable ethical, legal, and licensing requirements; and considering each client's values, beliefs, culture, preferences, clinical needs, and informed consent when determining whether or how tarot or another nontraditional tool may be appropriate within therapeutic work.

Registration + Cancellation Policy

Advanced registration is required. The exact address, parking information, and other arrival details will be provided to registered participants prior to the event.

Because space is intentionally limited to 8 participants and materials, refreshments, and other event expenses are prepared in advance, all registrations are final and nonrefundable.

Refunds or credits are not provided for participant cancellations, inability to attend, late arrival, early departure, or failure to complete the event.

If Healgood cancels the event, registered participants may choose a full refund of the registration fee paid or apply the amount toward a rescheduled event or future eligible Healgood offering.

Registration is subject to Healgood's Workshop & Continuing Education Event Terms of Service, which participants will review and agree to during checkout.
